Presenting poetry – rules, sounds, silences…

I’ve just returned from the fantastic NCFS conference in Philadelphia, USA, where I presented a paper called ‘Bending the laws of poetry in Baudelaire, Banville and Mallarmé’. Sharing my work with other scholars, especially specialists in versification and poetic analysis is always so enriching, and this conference was a particular highlight of my research career to date.

I’m also looking forward to presenting on an exciting panel session on ‘Sound and Silence’ at the SFS conference in Exeter 2-4 July 2012. I’ll be presenting alongside Áine Larkin and Claire Launchbury, two colleagues who also work on word/music relations in the context of French literature and music. It promises to be a very lively session…
